What Others Say
"Very thorough, very clear and very easy to understand."
"I purchased Build Your Own Computer before actually buying the components. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted but to insure I didn't make some serious (i.e. costly!) mistakes I felt your guide would be some good insurance. And, without doubt, it was. Very thorough, very clear and very easy to understand. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this PC! It is hot! But what is really great is how easily it all came together. Your guide played a big part and I would say to anyone attempting to build their own: BUY THE GUIDE FIRST! AND THEN FOLLOW IT FROM START TO FINISH!"
C. Walling
"I recently used your build guide to complete my first PC build. The process went flawlessly thanks to your clear and complete guide. The system (e6600, intel 965lt, 2gb pc6400, nvidia 7950/512) is fantastic and fired up first time. I just wanted to say thanks and keep up the great work."

Don't think you can build a computer? Are you tired of feeling like tech support guys are taking advantage of you?
No matter how much experience you have right now, you CAN build your own PC. And by doing so, you will come to learn the PC so that it will be much more difficult for a tech support guy to take advantage of you. Read these success stories and see how others have accomplished this...

Above is the complete course on building your own PC.
Our tutorial on building a PC has been used by many, many people successfully to put together a WORKING PC, using parts THEY selected. Read what others who have used our information have said:
Good and Clear Information
Yes I did build my own PC, and yes the book I brought from you was very helpful, it had good and clear information. This email is being written on my new computer that I builted. It is good to know that there are sights like pcmech out there to help people like me who just wanted to see if I could it, and now I am hooked, I am in the middle of building two more pcs.

The Darn Thing Works!
Yes David, I did build it...and the darn thing works! I thought that "Build Your Own PC" was very helpful as well as the CD. Problem is, now I want to build another one and I can't seem to persuade (sucker) any of my friends into letting me build one for them. Just as well....It'll take me a long time to get a real understanding of the fine points of pc's like bios settings, trouble shooting hardware and software, etc. I think I may just have opened Pandora's box. Sure is fun.. :-)

Your Manual was Indispensible
Thanks for your book. I built a system and your manual was indispensible. It went very well and I have my system humming (very quietly)!

Completely Satisfied
I am completely satisfied with the product, I have built two (2.0) PCs since purchasing the product and there was never a problem.

Written in English rather than Jargonese!
Thank you very much for all the snippets of information. I have bought your book and it looks excellent, because apart from telling me how to build a computer, it does give help at the end for things that could be be going wrong with an existing computer. And it is written in English rather than jargonese!

P.P.S. Is this thing current?
We typically issue updates to this material roughly once per year (except for the buyer's guide to help you select your parts). The hardware choices change all the time, but the PROCESS of building the computer changes very little. So, while we may not specifically mention every conceivable combination of hardware (that'd be impossible!), yes, this material WILL help you build your computer.
